Marjorie was appointed Lord-Lieutenant on 1 October 2021. She is the founder and chief executive of an Oxfordshire-based clean energy company which develops private/public partnerships that combine renewable energy projects and community hubs. Her firm also undertakes key environmental work for the restoration of peatlands across the UK. Alongside this work, she has taken on voluntary leadership roles in Oxfordshire, leading her town’s efforts to develop a new £2.5m community centre to create a new library, sports hall, café and community space. The centre opened in 2017. In recognition of this work and other community services, Mrs Glasgow was awarded the British Empire Medal by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the 2019 New Year Honours List. As Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Glasgow leads a team of 40 exceptional Deputy Lieutenants to connect across Oxfordshire and support HM The King’s primary interests of Community, Climate, Culture, and the Commonwealth. She is a member of the Ditchley Foundation Council of Governors, an active member of her local church, and her interests include running, equestrian sport and the natural environment. Mrs Glasgow is a graduate of Stanford University. She was born in the US, but now has dual citizenship and lives in Charlbury with her husband, Dine. He is part of the Lieutenancy team focused on Cherwell and is the Lieutenancy’s link to the villages in northeast Cherwell. He holds the Lieutenancy’s Judiciary and Magistrates Brief for the County. The Vice Lord-Lieutenant The Vice Lord-Lieutenant is appointed, with The King’s approval, by the Lord-Lieutenant from amongst her Deputy Lieutenants. He plays a substantial role in managing Lieutenancy projects and may also deputise for the Lord-Lieutenant on many occasions, including at Royal visits and other official engagements. About James James was educated at New College, Oxford, after which he served with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) in Germany and Northern Ireland before joining the Royal Yeomanry. He commanded the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry, Westminster Dragoons and Berkshire Yeomanry Squadrons. A chartered accountant by profession, he has been Finance Director of numerous service industry companies and served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants (2010–11). Outside of work, James has been a trustee of many charities in the fields of housing, ex-service welfare, medicine, and education, including Queen Mary’s Roehampton Trust and, in Oxfordshire, Dr Radcliffe’s School Foundation, Defence Medical Welfare Services, and the Orders of St John Care Trust. A former County Commander of St John Ambulance, he has held a variety of posts in the Order of St John. He also served substantial time on the Oxford Diocesan Synod and Bishop’s Council and, in the civil sphere, on Lower Heyford Parish and Cherwell District councils and as a magistrate on the Oxfordshire Bench, serving as its Chairman for three years from 2021.
