Alison Rooke

Alison Rooke DL was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2025. She is part of the Lieutenancy team focused on West Oxfordshire and holds the Lieutenancy brief for Elder Care and Carers in Communities. 

Alison has lived in Oxfordshire all her life. She has served as a local councillor for more than 25 years, during which time she served as a town Mayor, Chair of Vale of White Horse District Council and Chair of Oxfordshire County Council visiting over 110 Oxfordshire organisations during her 2024-2025 year of service before retiring.

Alison became a trustee of a local Alzheimer’s care home charity in Sandford on Thames after her father’s death. She was a school governor for over twenty years and an Air Training Corps civilian committee member. She is currently Hon President of Abingdon Artists and has been a member of her local operatic society for over 40 years. She is an active member of her local church.

She has supported local community support organisations, including an extension to her local church, Vale House Alzheimer’s care home charity, the Earth Trust, Parkinsons UK branches in Henley, Banbury and Oxford, and My Vision Oxfordshire.
