New Deputy Lieutenants commissioned for Oxfordshire

Six new Deputy Lieutenants for Oxfordshire have been commissioned this week. They are Dr Alex Barnes, Air Vice-Marshal Malcolm Brecht CB CBE, Mrs Debbie Dance OBE, Mrs Ruth Kennell, Mrs Jennifer Lamboll BEM, and Mr Tom Skelton.

They received their commission to take on the role as Deputy Lieutenants from Mrs Marjorie Glasgow, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire.

The Lord-Lieutenant promotes and encourages voluntary and charitable organisations, and takes an interest in the business, urban, rural and social life of the county to support HM The King’s primary interests of Community, Climate, Culture, and the Commonwealth.

Deputy Lieutenants are chosen from across Oxfordshire to support the work of the Lord-Lieutenant. Their varied backgrounds, local and specialist knowledge and experience make a valuable contribution to the work of the Lieutenancy. There are currently 45 Deputy Lieutenants who are the eyes and ears of the Lieutenancy in our local communities, liaising closely with the many individuals and organisations throughout the County striving to make Oxfordshire a welcoming, supportive and inclusive place to live and work.

Congratulating the new Deputy Lieutenants on their appointments, Mrs Glasgow said: “The superpower of the Oxfordshire Lieutenancy is the team of Deputy Lieutenants who give their time and talent so generously to connect the Crown with our Oxfordshire communities. I am delighted to welcome them to the team and look forward to working alongside them in the years ahead.”
