The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort took place on Saturday 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey.

The Archbishop of Canterbury conducted the service and during the service the Sovereign took the coronation oath. Following the oath the Sovereign is then 'anointed, blessed and consecrated' by the Archbishop.

After receiving the orb and sceptres, the Archbishop places St Edward's Crown on the Sovereign's head.

The Coronation is an occasion for pageantry and celebration. It is also a solemn religious ceremony that has remained unchanged for over 1000 years.
