Tehmeena Ajmal

Tehmeena started her career in community development and then learning and development in Manchester City Council. She joined the NHS in 1994 in Ealing Hospital to lead their work on equal access to services; and continued this in Oxfordshire across health and social care. She spent three years with the NHS leadership Centre developing and evaluating a whole range of leadership programmes for NHS managers, before returning to acute services to lead.  She has worked in the public sector for her whole career, across health, local authority and the third sector. In 2008 she joined South Central Ambulance Service to work on service improvement and change, and four years later took this experience to lead a substantial change programme at Buckinghamshire Hospitals Trust.

In 2012 she joined Oxford Health NHSFT, which delivers community and mental health services across a large geography, initially as head of quality and risk, and subsequently in a range of operational roles until she became the operational director for community services. Then Covid hit, and she led the Trust response to the pandemic, followed by the Covid vaccination programme across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and West Berkshire.  She is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Berkshire Healthcare Trust running mental health and community services and a trustee of Age UK Oxfordshire.

Her interests include supporting children and young people to improve their mental health and wellbeing and developing community capacity and capability.
