Cynthia Hall

Educated at North London Collegiate School and St Anne’s College Oxford, Cynthia carried her passion for English literature into a lifetime career in teaching. From 1993 she led two independent girls’ schools, The School of St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon (-2008) followed by Wycombe Abbey in High Wycombe (-2013).

Alongside her teaching career, she was a school inspector, held five secondary school governorships across the independent and maintained sectors, was a member of the Oxfordshire Independent and State Schools Partnership (ISSP) Forum and was President of the Girls’ Schools Association.

From 2013- 2018 Cynthia worked part-time in the commercial world of executive recruitment, specialising in senior education appointments for Saxton Bampfylde.

Cynthia was appointed a trustee of Shakespeare’s Globe in 2013, with special oversight for their education outreach programme.

Retiring fully from paid work in 2018, Cynthia has enjoyed becoming more involved in the community life of Henley-on-Thames where she has lived for 30 years with husband, Tony. She acts as the Lieutenancy’s link DL for Henley-on-Thames and is a member of the South Oxfordshire DL Group.
