Robert Kirtland

After obtaining a degree in Computer Science from Warwick University, Robert switched to accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant and Senior Partner of Critchleys - a firm of accountants founded in Oxford in 1906 and now the largest independent accountancy firm in the County.  He has been a partner for over 20 years and was also the firm’s Managing Partner from 2006 to 2017.  He specialises in advising charity and education clients working with Oxford Colleges, Academy Schools and many other charities and leads the firm’s charities team.

Born and educated in Thame, Robert has lived in Oxfordshire all of his life and now lives in Wootton Village, near Abingdon, with his wife Alison and two children.

He has held a number of charitable roles including being a founding trustee of Charity Mentors Oxfordshire and a Governor of Oxford Brookes University for 8 years, where he has chaired the Finance and Resources Committee for the last 3 years.  He was also Treasurer of the Dorchester Abbey appeal which raised over £4m for the Abbey in the early 2000’s.

Robert was appointed a DL in 2020 and manages the promotion of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise scheme in the County.
