The Duchess of Cambridge hosts a Carol Service at Westminster Abbey

Lieutenancies around the country were asked to send representatives from their county to a special Carol Service at Westminster Abbey, hosted by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. Lieutenancies were asked to help “curate a guestlist of people from all walks of life and from across the length and breadth of the UK. It will encompass volunteers, individuals and families who have gone above and beyond in their communities, and those who might find the Christmas period particularly difficult.”

The Lord-Lieutenant selected a husband, wife and daughter team who had to shut their restaurant due to Covid and, during the pandemic, prepared, packaged and distributed 45,000 meals throughout their local community.

Also selected to attend was a wheelchair-bound lady described as “a pillar of her community, passionate about bringing communities together.” As someone who has gone out of her way to help people in need, it was wonderful to be able to send her to Westminster Abbey, with the assistance of the High Sheriff, to say thank you for all she has done for her local community.
