Jubilee Trees for new Oxfordshire citizens

To mark the 70th Anniversary of the Queen's Accession - the Platinum Jubilee - for the next year all those being granted British citizenship in Oxfordshire will be offered a British native tree to be planted in their garden as part of the Queen's Green Canopy.

Those without a garden or who do not wish to have a tree to plant in their garden, will be given the option to have a tree planted in their name in an Oxfordshire wood.

The first ceremony took place at County Hall the day after Accession Day, and Lynda Atkins DL presented nine new citizens with either a Common Pear or a Common Hornbeam. 19 new citizens chose to donate their trees.
